Privacy Policy
Showtime Daily is an independent news app for Lakers fans. It's built to collect as little as possible: there are no accounts, no ads, no tracking and no analytics tools. This policy explains the small amount of information the app does use and why.
What the app collects
- An anonymous install ID. The app creates a random ID the first time it opens. It's used only so each install gets one vote in Pulse ("Believe it?" and today's question). It isn't linked to your name, Apple ID, email, phone number or contacts.
- Your Pulse votes. Stored with that anonymous ID, and shown to other fans only as totals and percentages, never individually.
- Notification settings and a push token. If you allow notifications, Apple gives the app a push token, which is sent to our server with the story alerts you chose, so we can send those alerts. Game reminders are scheduled on your phone and never leave it.
Everything else stays on your phone, such as which stories you've read.
What the app does not collect
- No name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location.
- No advertising identifiers, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- No third-party analytics or advertising tools.
How it's used and shared
This information is used only to run the app's features: counting votes and sending the notifications you asked for. It is never sold, rented or used for advertising. It is shared only with the services needed to run the app:
- Apple Push Notification service, which delivers notifications to your iPhone.
- Our cloud hosting provider, which runs the Showtime Daily server where votes and notification settings are stored.
The app's stories are written from public posts by reporters and Lakers news sites, and some of that public material is processed by an AI service to write summaries. None of your information is sent to it.
The website
showtimedaily.com uses a web analytics service to count visits and see which pages are read. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't follow you across other sites, and doesn't collect your name or contact details.
Links to other sites
Stories link to their original sources, such as news sites, X and Bluesky. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply when you visit them.
Your choices
- Notifications: change which alerts you get in the app's Settings, or turn them off in iOS Settings.
- Deleting the app: removes everything stored on your phone. Apple then stops accepting its push token, and our server deletes that token the next time it tries to send an alert.
- Questions or removal requests: email us at the address below.
Children
Showtime Daily isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
